The Peckham Settlement is seeking a new Treasurer / Trustee to join our board!

We’re looking for someone to help manage our finances, ensuring we can continue to provide grants and support to charities and community groups across SE15. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with some professional or personal experience of financial management to give back to the local community, and help the good work of hundreds of local charities and community groups continue.

We are particularly looking for a Treasurer to help with some key tasks:

  • maintaining our straightforward accounts
  • paying the agreed grants
  • receiving regular reports from the investment managers
  • attending an annual meeting with the investment managers
  • giving reports and advice to the other Trustees on all financial matters

You would also join the other Trustees in inviting, reviewing and deciding on applications for grants as well as inputting on the policies and conduct of the charity as a whole.

We are a very small volunteer led organisation, with no premises, no paid staff and no fundraising activities, and our investments are managed by a professional company.

You would be expected to have sound financial judgement, some knowledge of the voluntary sector and ideally an understanding of charity investment, but that is not essential as guidance would be available from present Trustees. You might be a retired accountant or just someone with good financial understanding.

Previous board or trustee experience is not necessary. We will welcome applications from persons of any age and any relevant background, and particularly from those who live or work in SE15.

If this could be for you, please contact the Chairperson David Reid by email (peckhamsettlement.org@gmail.com) or call 02079711482 for an introductory conversation.
